Many of you might not know that I’ve been a vegetarian/pescatarian for almost 10 years. Crazy right?! I usually get asked if I miss eating meat and the truth is no, not really. I absolutely love fish (salmon is my favorite) so I still eat fish, but growing up I was never a huge meat eater. I made the choice to try a vegetarian diet for a few weeks and it just felt right for me. But, I totally respect those that eat meat and don’t mind cooking it for others in my home.
So, where do I love finding great vegetarian dishes here in Grand Rapids? Here are some of my favorite spots:
Grove
Did you know Grove has a separate vegetarian/vegan menu? Whenever we want to celebrate something we love going to Grove for a special dining experience. The vegetarian menu is great for me to experience the tasting menu and have plenty of options to choose from.
Terra
Terra is a perfect spot for vegetarians in Grand Rapids. This summer vegetable pizza has been a favorite of mine all summer long with fresh vegetables, squash blossoms and a pesto sauce. I’m also a huge fan of their salads including the caprese with heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella. Everything is labeled easily on their menu for those who are vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free or gluten-free which I really appreciate.
Uncle Cheetah’s Soup Shop
As the weather starts getting cooler I love a trip to Uncle Cheetah’s Soup Shop for some delicious soup. All the soups are handmade and change daily so you can always find something new to try. The best part is they also include vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options daily so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. I’m a huge fan of the tomato saffron soup!
The Sovengard
I really love how fresh all the dishes are at The Sovengard. They always have great seasonal vegetables and amazing vegetarian dishes on the menu. Also, they are now open for lunch and recently expanded their space!
