How often do you typically go to gym? I was going on average 2-3 times a week, but I decided to set a goal of going every day last week. If you’re the type of person that goes to the gym every morning or has a set routine I’m applauding you right now. Because I quickly became aware that this goal wasn’t going to be easy. Here’s what I learned from working out every day for a week at MVP Sports Clubs.
My Workouts
I started off really strong making it to MVP Athletic Club on Monday during my lunch break. What I found was it was easiest to change right away into my workout clothes, get some work done and then head to MVP Athletic Club. I ran on the treadmill for 30 minutes and felt really refreshed doing this midday workout. I realized that working out in the afternoon gave me so much energy to complete my work, and also boosted my creativity.
On Tuesday I went to MVP Sportsplex after work for a change of scenery. I did a 30 minute workout on the elliptical which felt amazing. After a long day of work I was so happy to workout and clear my head.
I decided to go after work again on Wednesday to MVP Athletic Club, and did some weights and the elliptical again. This workout was tough because I honestly just wanted to relax at home, but I pushed through and made it.
On Thursday I had an event that lasted all day, and the thought of waking up early to workout didn’t sound appealing. So I didn’t go…and this is where I started making excuses and not completing my goal.
What I Learned
Working out every day for a week was probably an overly ambitious goal for me. I probably should have set a more reasonable goal to start with and work my way up to working out every day. Am I going to try this again? Yes, for sure because I’ve learned a few things along the way.
- Plan Ahead – I’m going to look at my calendar for the week and schedule my workouts like I would a meeting. Putting this in writing, and making the time for it is key.
- Make it a Priority – Even if I don’t want to go I’m going to push myself to try.
- Go to a Class – MVP Sports Clubs offer great group fitness classes that would help get me excited to workout. Also, since these classes are offered at different times I can schedule this in advance.
Do you think you could workout every day for a week?
