This feels like a dream come true to write a travel blog post again. If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw some snapshots from our long weekend getaway to Palm Beach, FL last month. We went back and forth planning this vacation, but at the end of the day I’m so happy we went. Obviously I know traveling looks very different for everyone right now. I’m going to share some thoughts on traveling in 2021 so stay tuned for that blog post next week. If you’re planning a trip to Palm Beach in the future, scroll down for some of my recommendations that we really enjoyed from our weekend getaway.
Where to Stay:
Cory and I stayed in West Palm Beach since the prices were significantly cheaper than staying on the island. We traveled at the tail end of spring break so hotel prices were relatively higher. The Hilton West Palm Beach worked out really well for us since it was within walking distance to shopping and grabbing lunch at Restoration Hardware. This hotel is also great for families with amenities including a very large swimming pool and a restaurant on site. We also looked into staying at the Canopy by Hilton West Palm Beach Downtown if you need another idea for staying in West Palm Beach. Cory and I enjoyed a sunset view from their rooftop bar Ban.ter Treehouse and the hotel was very nice.
If you can stay on Palm Beach I would definitely check out The Colony Hotel. The Colony has such a cool vibe and the interior is stunning (see below). This hotel would be perfect for a girls getaway! You could also check out White Elephant Palm Beach or The Breakers on Palm Beach.
Where to Eat:
Palm Beach
If you’re on the island and looking for some dining options, I’ve got you covered. After a walk by the beach or shopping grab lunch at Pizza Al Fresco. This restaurant has the best outdoor seating and we really enjoyed the Margherita pizza with the verde salad. Along with an Aperol Spritz I almost felt like I was back in Italy enjoying lunch outside. This is a great restaurant for families or a group of friends.
Pizza Al Fresco has a sister restaurant Al Fresco that was attached to the club house of the golf course. After golfing this was the perfect spot to enjoy lunch and the view. Even if you don’t golf you could still come here for lunch or a drink because the view of the ocean is amazing. We loved the fritto misto (pictured below) and the mahi mahi sandwich.
For dinner on the island, make a reservation at Buccan. This dinner was probably one of our favorites on our trip. We shared these baked oysters (which were amazing), and I couldn’t get enough of the local grilled swordfish. Cory ordered the squid ink orecchiette which was really good. Again, make a reservation here because this restaurant is very popular.
I would also suggest making a reservation at Sant Ambroeus. Sant Ambroeus has multiple locations in New York and this location on Palm Beach. You can read all about the fascinating story behind Sant Ambroeus here. We loved sitting outside and enjoying the anguria e feta (a feta and watermelon salad), linguine cacio e pepe and Cory ordered a special of the night. This is a great date night spot or fun to enjoy with girlfriends. Also, don’t miss their gelato cart!
For drinks in Palm Beach you can’t miss out on Ta-boo. This legendary bistro and bar has quite a history in Palm Beach. Cory and I enjoyed their happy hour and the food menu looked great. I would come here again for happy hour or a late night drink. I would also suggest Seafood Bar in The Breakers for a late night drink and/or dessert. Next time I’m totally ordering their famous key lime pie.
West Palm Beach
If you’re looking for lunch in West Palm I would definitely check out Restoration Hardware. Cory and I have visited their restaurants in Chicago and New York and always love the experience and food. The RH Rooftop Restaurant in West Palm is gorgeous and perfect for enjoying lunch or a drink. I ordered the avocado toast and Cory had the kale caesar salad. Both of these were very good! This is a fun spot to enjoy with girlfriends for brunch or meet up with friends for a drink.
Cory and I also enjoyed dinner at Grato in West Palm Beach. The chef at Grato is also behind Buccan that I mentioned above. You’ll find house-made pasta, brick oven pizza and also sushi at this restaurant. I loved the spaghetti and Cory enjoyed the corn agnolotti. This is a restaurant you could enjoy with kids, or a group of people. I love that they have a mix of different options on the menu so everyone can find something they like.
Things To Do:
Looking for some fun things to do in Palm Beach? Check out the clock tower on Ocean Blvd. before taking a swim in the ocean. The beach here was really nice and we enjoyed putting our feet in the water and taking a little walk in the sand. Nearby is Worth Ave. with all the best shopping including Saks Fifth Avenue, Vineyard Vines, Ralph Lauren and much more.
If you enjoy golfing check out Palm Beach Par 3. This par 3 course is great because it’s quick (which I love), and the views are amazing by the ocean. Grab lunch or a drink at Al Fresco when you’re done golfing.
Even if you don’t stay at The Breakers I would highly suggest seeing the hotel. How amazing is the lobby?! Like I mentioned above, you can grab a drink at Seafood Bar or HMF. I’ve also heard they have a great brunch!
We didn’t get a chance to do snorkeling, but we’re definitely going to do this next time. There are some great spots in the area to snorkel or dive if you’re interested in that. We also want to rent bikes on the island follow the bike trail.
If you head to Palm Beach I hope you enjoy these recommendations! Cory and I had such a wonderful weekend getaway to Palm Beach. You can also find travel guides to Vero Beach and Miami here on The GR Guide. Please travel responsibly and follow COVID travel guidelines.
