It’s time for a spring break getaway am I right? I just got back from Miami (stay tuned for a weekend getaway guide coming soon) and it was so nice to leave behind the snow and cold for some sand and sun. Before you head out on your spring getaway I’ve got a fun checklist of items to get you ready for your warm weather trip. Bon voyage!
1. Get a Fresh Cut & Color
There’s nothing better than a fresh cut and color before leaving on vacation. I recently visited E + L Salon to add a little more blonde and get the dead ends cut off. Lauren did such a great job getting just the right blonde tone (which isn’t easy) and an easy to maintain style that’s perfect for a beach getaway. I also love that they use products from Fox Naturals and Sacha Juan.
2. Enjoy a Manicure & Pedicure
When I’m focused on a to-do list and packing it’s nice to just enjoy a relaxing manicure and pedicure before vacation. My go-to spot for a manicure or pedicure is The TLC Spa in Forest Hills for a great selection of nail polish colors and good customer service.
3. Get a Spray Tan
You can’t beat a natural spray tan before heading someplace warm. I love Smooched for an organic spray tan that’s customized to your skin tone. So no you won’t look orange like Ross from Friends and there’s no counting involved.
4. Pack Something New
It’s so fun to pack some new clothing pieces or accessories for a beach getaway. Shop local by stopping by Lee and Birch, Iris Boutique or Blacklamb to find stylish jewelry, dresses or tote bags for your next vacation.
5. Hit the Gym
I always have intentions of running on the beach, working out from the hotel gym or finding a yoga class while I’m on vacation, but this rarely happens (actually this never happens). Instead I try to schedule a few classes at MVP Sports Clubs before I leave and for when I get back. I’ve been loving their R30 class for a quick ride workout that I have no excuse to cancel when it’s only 30 minutes.
6. Buy a New Book
I look forward to vacations so I can read a new book on the beach or in the airport. Putting my phone down to just relax with a captivating book sounds like the best thing ever. If you’re looking for a new book check out Books and Mortar for a great selection of new releases.
