Happy spring break! I think we can all use a little break this season (am I right?!). If your kids are officially on spring break, or you just need an excuse to get out of the house this post is for you. I’ve got some great ideas for enjoying a staycation spring break style right here in Grand Rapids. I’ve included some ideas for families and some ideas for adults in this spring break post. I hope you enjoy a little rest and relaxation, as well as trying something new here in Grand Rapids.
Stay at a Hotel
Ok, if you really want to get that “staycation” feel why not book a hotel? Grand Rapids has some amazing hotels located downtown like the Amway Grand, JW Marriott or City Flats Hotel that are perfect for couples or families. Maybe you find a hotel that has an indoor pool for your kids, or a hotel that has a spa for some relaxation? Depending on what you’re looking for we have some great options here in GR.
See the Butterflies
If you haven’t seen the butterflies at Meijer Gardens yet, this is your time to go! Spend the afternoon at Meijer Gardens seeing the butterflies or walking around outdoors in the gardens. Both kids and adults will love this exhibit so you’re sure to have a wonderful time together. This is also a great way to spend time outside or inside enjoying the spring weather.
Go to a Griffins Game
Have you been to a Griffins game this season? The Griffins have teamed up with Grand Rapids Kids for spring break games on March 29 and March 31. You can find more information here to save money on your tickets. This is such a fun activity for families!
Pamper Yourself
Get your hair done, enjoy a massage or relax with a pedicure. There are a lot of great places in Grand Rapids, but I love getting my hair cut and colored at E+L Salon. You can also check out the spa packages at Woodhouse Spa or the spa at the JW Marriott. Enjoy some time to just relax.
Do Some Spring Shopping
Spring is a great season to go through your closet and do some “spring cleaning.” Take inventory of items you anticipate wearing, items you might need or clothing you can donate. If you need some inspiration for spring head to a local retailer for ideas!
Try a Progressive Dinner
Have you ever tried a progressive dinner? Cory and I have loved doing a appetizers at a restaurant, dinner at another restaurant and then dessert at yet another restaurant. This is a fun way to try new restaurants or a few of your favorite restaurants for date night. Here’s a progressive dinner idea for downtown Grand Rapids:
1. Try a new wine and make your own charcuterie board at House of Wine.
2. Walk to The Littlebird for dinner.
3. Enjoy dessert at Reserve. I love their s’mores dessert!
Start a New Book
Spring break is a great time to start a new book! Head to your local library branch or bookstore to find a book on your want-to-read list. I’m currently reading Where The Crawdads Sing and it’s amazing so far!
