Ok, I’m finally getting around to some wedding posts on The GR Guide. I promise to not over-share wedding stuff, but I’ve had so many of you asking on Instagram so here we go. Let’s start with my bachelorette weekend in northern Michigan. At the end of June I spent the weekend with some of my best friends in Glen Arbor, and let me tell you it was one of the best weekends ever. Between wine tasting, kayaking, hanging by the pool and enjoying a walk around Leland it’s difficult for me to pick my favorite part about our trip.
Where We Stayed
If you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably seen me at The Homestead in Glen Arbor quite a few times. My family has been staying at this resort since I was in elementary school so it was a no brainer to stay here for my bachelorette weekend. The Homestead offers hotel rooms, condos, and homes that you can rent depending on your group size. Which is why it’s a great place to stay with family or friends. We stayed in Pinnacle Place and had a wonderful view of Lake Michigan (see below) and just enough room for everyone to sleep comfortably for the weekend. Our condo also had a full kitchen which was ideal for breakfast in the morning.
What makes The Homestead great for a girls weekend is they have multiple pools, a good restaurant and let’s be honest the views are spectacular. We spent most of the afternoon on Friday by the beach club pool before enjoying dinner at Cafe Manitou. Just walking around the property and taking in the sights was a huge plus staying here.
Activities
We were blessed to have amazing weather all weekend so we spent a lot of time outdoors. On Saturday morning we kayaked the Crystal River with Crystal River Outfitters in Glen Arbor. This was a great group activity even though many of us got separated at points along the way #worthit.
You can’t do a girls weekend in northern Michigan without some wine tasting am I right? I was thrilled to partner with TC TÜKS for wine tasting along Old Mission Peninsula with my girlfriends. The open-air tüks were great for taking in views of the water while singing along to our favorite tunes. We visited three wineries Mari Vineyards, Bonobo Winery and Brys Estate which was my ideal itinerary. Depending on what you’re looking for with your group they have three different tour options that you can choose from. I can honestly say this was everyones “peak” of the weekend. A huge thank you to TC TÜKS for providing this tour for us and partnering with The GR Guide.
On Sunday we took a drive to Leland to shop at Leland Gal, Two Fish Gallery, and grab sandwiches from Village Cheese Shanty. I’m obsessed with their pretzel bread and the fishtown sandwich is my all time favorite. Be prepared to wait or order ahead of time as this place can get very busy during the summer. Trust me it’s worth it.
These girls are the absolute best, and I truly treasure the memories we made over this weekend. xoxo
