If you own a dog you know there are TONS of options when it comes to dog beds. When I first adopted Wrigley I couldn’t believe the endless choices of material, filling and designs to choose from. After owning two different dog beds it’s fair to say I’ve learned a few tips along the way. I was on the hunt for a new dog bed, and came across Chasing Winter on Instagram. They were kind enough to partner with me on this post, and send Wrigley a large dog bed. As you can see, Wrigley is totally in love with his new bed. Here are some helpful tips for buying a dog bed, and a few things I absolutely love about Chasing Winter.
Helpful Tips for Buying a Dog Bed
If you’re looking for a new dog bed I’m here to help. Here are some great tips for buying a dog bed, and a few things I really love about Wrigley’s Chasing Winter dog bed.
Select a Color That’s Fits Your Home
When it comes to choosing a color or design for your dog’s bed make sure it fits well with your home decor. Let’s be honest, the bed might sit in your living room or bedroom so having it look seamless with your home is key. What I love about Wrigley’s Chasing Winter dog bed is the fog grey linen fabric that looks perfect with our natural color scheme of our house. They also offer beds in a beautiful sage, peony and polar blue color.
Make Sure the Bed is Easy to Clean
If there’s one thing I know for sure, dog beds get dirty quickly. Wrigley loves being outside, and the amount of grass and dirt he tracks in is mind blowing. Wrigley also loves chewing his bone or eating treats on his dog bed, which is why it needs to be machine washable. Making sure a dog bed is easy to clean is my top priority. This dog bed from Chasing Winter is very durable and machine washable. The cover easily zips off for putting in my washing machine.
Select the Correct Size Bed
When I first adopted Wrigley I misjudged the size of his dog bed, and it was slightly too big. I would suggest using the dimensions provided, and the recommended weight to determine the correct size for your dog. For reference, Wrigley is using a large dog bed from Chasing Winter in the fog grey color.
Decide Where to Keep the Dog Bed
Deciding where you’ll keep the dog bed goes along with determining the right size for the bed. You don’t want the dog bed to be a high traffic area where a family member could trip or squished in a corner that’s too small. Make sure you measure the space and size of the dog bed before purchasing. We keep Wrigley’s dog bed by our couch (which has helped him not jump on the couch as much) or by the fireplace hearth.
Determine Which Bed Filling is Right for Your Dog
When it comes to the filling of a dog bed there are tons of choices. As Wrigley is getting older I wanted memory foam to help his spine and pressure points. The shredded memory foam in Chasing Winter dog beds is very supportive and comforting for Wrigley. When you order this bed from Chasing Winter the memory foam is vacuum sealed. Once you open the bed the air will help fluff the memory foam. You can see a video here.
I hope you enjoyed these helpful tips for buying a dog bed. Thanks again Chasing Winter for sending us this bed for Wrigley!
