I know it’s not officially the end of summer, but Labor Day weekend always feels like a goodbye to summer. The kids are back in school, the air is getting crisp, and the leaves are starting to show some color. I’ll be honest, I’m hanging on tight to every ounce of summer here in Michigan. You probably know by now that winter is by far my least favorite season. So this weekend I’m taking full advantage of knocking things off my summer bucket list, and enjoying the beautiful weather. Who’s with me?
Finish Your Summer Bucket List
Like I mentioned above, I’m looking back on my summer bucket list and seeing what I can cross off. You can use my summer bucket list or create your own before the weekend. Watch a sunset, have a backyard BBQ, go for a hike or plan a picnic this weekend. There’s still so much fun to be had this summer.
Watch The Kentucky Derby Outdoors
Did you know the Kentucky Derby is happening this Saturday? If you know me, you know I LOVE the Kentucky Derby. I mean any excuse to dress up, wear a hat and drink a mint julep I’m all for it. Since the weather looks beautiful on Saturday, Cory and I were thinking about setting up our backyard movie set-up or just watching the race on our phone outside.
Go to the Beach
Going to the beach is a slightly obvious choice to celebrate Labor Day, but deserves to be on the list. West Michigan is home to some pretty amazing beaches, and the weather looks great for most of the weekend. Just make sure to social distance and stay safe at the beach!
Try a New Recipe
Head to the Fulton Street Farmers Market this weekend to pick up some fresh produce for the holiday. Need some recipe ideas? Here are some recipes I bookmarked for end of summer.
Lemony Pesto Pasta Salad with Avocado and Arugula
Have An Ice Cream Party
An ice cream party with your family is the best way to celebrate the end of summer! Get a variety of ice cream flavors, toppings and of course some sprinkles. Kids (and adults) will have so much fun trying new ice cream combinations.
Create a S’mores Board
Remember this s’mores board from the beginning of summer? Well it’s not too late to try this s’mores board before the end of summer. We had so much fun creating twists on the classic s’mores with different cookies and types of chocolate.
