As many of you know I recently tied the knot a couple of weeks ago. If you’ve been through the wedding planning process you can probably relate to the stress and sleepless nights. Don’t get me wrong because Cory and I loved our wedding day, but we were really ready to just relax. Which is why we were so excited to work with Grand Traverse Resort and Spa for a mini-moon in Traverse City.
We’re doing a honeymoon later this year because the thought of planning a trip and packing along with wedding planning was just too much. So a mini honeymoon was just what we were looking for. If you’re a regular follower I’m sure you’ve seen me post about Traverse City and my love for Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. But, if you’re planning a mini-moon or even a romantic getaway with your significant other here’s why Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is a great choice.
Accommodations
If you haven’t stayed at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa before here are some reasons why I love the accommodations. The tower rooms have amazing views of the golf courses, Lake Michigan or beautiful forests. Waking up to these views or catching the sunset from bed is what I love the most about staying here. Let’s not forget how comfortable the beds are, the incredible hospitality of the staff and the spacious rooms. The housekeeping staff went above and beyond with making these towel creations for our mini-moon which was a fun welcome.
Dining at Aerie
If you’re looking for a great dinner option in Traverse City with amazing food and incredible views you can’t miss Aerie. It’s truly the perfect spot to celebrate your wedding on a mini honeymoon. Aerie is located on the 16th floor of Grand Traverse Resort and Spa so the views are spectacular (don’t miss the sunset up here).
We started our dinner with the caprese sharable. This features local tomatoes, house made mozzarella, roasted red peppers, capers, balsamic reduction, basil pesto and garlic crostini. The local tomatoes were a true highlight.
I would highly recommend the Aerie Salad before your entree. This salad is one of my favorites with mixed greens, a local cherry vinaigrette, candied pecans, pickled red onions, cucumbers and gorgonzola. The cherry vinaigrette is the best paired with the pickled red onions. I ordered the special of the night for my entree which happened to salmon (my favorite). The asian slaw on top of the salmon along with potatoes was delicious.
Don’t leave without ordering a dessert! We love the chocolate tower with flourless chocolate cake layered with white and dark chocolate mousse. It’s the perfect way to end your celebratory dinner at Aerie.
Spa Grand Traverse
The perfect way to unwind during your mini-moon at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is to head to Spa Grand Traverse. But, if your significant other isn’t excited about the spa don’t worry. Grand Traverse Resort and Spa has three golf courses on site which Cory really enjoyed (he played The Bear course). The great part about staying at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is there’s something for each of you enjoy and relax on a mini honeymoon.
Spa Grand Traverse offers a wide variety of services and a beautiful space. This spa is actually listed in the top 25 of Spas of America’s top 100 spas. How cool is that? As soon as you walk through the door the staff is extremely welcoming, and the waiting area has everything to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. The robes are luxurious, the music is soothing and I was so impressed with their spa treatments.
I tried the Ambre Experience and was in full relaxation mode. The Ambre Experience truly helps to diminish stress with the Vichy shower that starts with a body exfoliation with Ambre scented scrub (which smells amazing). The Vichy showers washed away the scrub and left my skin feeling so smooth. After the Vichy showers I had a hot stone massage that really helped me to relax along with a facial and scalp treatment. This is honestly was one of the best spa treatments I’ve ever had.
I also tried the Signature Hydrafacial while I was staying at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. This treatment helps to deeply cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate skin on your face and neck. With a gentle peel followed by an infusion of hyaluronic acid it really does leave your face feeling amazing. What I really liked was how the treatment can be targeted to your skin’s needs!
Thank you Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, Aerie Restaurant, and Spa Grand Traverse for this wonderful mini-moon experience. If you’re planning a mini honeymoon in Traverse City look no further than staying at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.
