Anyone else reading a lot of books this summer? With the nice weather I’ve really enjoyed reading books outside this summer. I wanted to share some of my favorite books I’ve been reading the past couple of months. Scroll down for a list of books and leave a comment with any of your recommendations!
Books I’ve Recently Read
I just finished The Paris Library and really enjoyed this book. If you’re a fan of historical fiction this book is for you! The book takes place in World War II, and is based on a true story of librarians at The American Library in Paris. It also flips back and forth to Montana in 1983 which was confusing at first, but it all comes together in the end. I’ll admit this book started off pretty slow, but once I got into it I couldn’t put it down.
I had mixed feelings about Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead. This book follows the life of Marian Graves and Hadley Baxter, and the book flips between both of their lives. Honestly I wasn’t a huge fan of the back and forth in this book, and halfway through I got a little bored with reading it. I’m glad I read it, but I wasn’t in love with this book.
If you follow me on Instagram or read the blog, you saw I picked The Last Thing He Told Me for our first book club discussion! I really enjoyed reading The Last Thing He Told Me, and I’m really looking forward to discussing it with you guys. I’m not going to say too much about this book so I don’t spoil anything. You can find more info here on the book club!
If you need a great beach read look no further than People We Meet on Vacation. I read this book along with the National Writers Series and truly enjoyed it. I laughed, I cried and fell in love with the characters in the book. Emily Henry is a great writer and I also want to read Beach Read.
Need another historical fiction suggestion? Check out The Rose Code! I read this book while we were on vacation up north and really liked it. It follows women breaking German military codes in World War II, and is also loosely based on some true events.
It wouldn’t be summer without a book by Elin Hilderbrand right? I’m currently reading Golden Girl and can’t put it down. It’s the perfect summer read and of course takes place on Nantucket. If you need a good beach read for the holiday weekend coming up this is a great book.
