I hate writing about summer ending, but unfortunately the time has come. We’re almost half way through August, and if you have kids you know school is starting soon. But, let’s be honest summer is still here and it’s not too late to make the most of it. Who’s with me? Here are my top 10 things to do in Grand Rapids, Michigan before summer ends.
Spend Time By The Water
Spending time by the water is a no-brainer when you live in Michigan. We’re surrounded by amazing lakes here in Grand Rapids that are perfect for a warm summer day. Cory and I recently spent an afternoon at Hoffmaster State Park and even though the water was a little chilly it was still fun.
Dine Outdoors
With colder weather on the horizon I’m determined to spend as much time outdoors especially when it comes to dinners. I love dinners on our back patio or dining outdoors at a restaurant. If you need some ideas for where to dine in Grand Rapids here is a list of my favorite patios.
Go to Michigan’s Adventure
Going to Michigan’s Adventure is at the top of my list before summer ends. I grew up going to Michigan’s Adventure and it’s been quite awhile since I’ve been back. What’s your favorite ride?
Host a BBQ with Friends
I truly love hosting and planning parties and because of our wedding and hectic summer schedule we really haven’t had a chance to have people over. I have some ideas for end of summer parties that I’m pretty excited about including a BBQ and Italian themed party.
Go to a Whitecaps Game
In my opinion summer just isn’t complete without a baseball game. If you haven’t been to a Whitecaps game you still have time! Check out their schedule to see when they play at home.
Enjoy a Concert Outdoors
One of my favorite things to do during the summer is see a concert outdoors. We use our Meijer Gardens membership to see the Tuesday Evening Music Club which is always great. We also love Summer Nights at Fulton Street Market where we can listen to music outdoors and shop for local produce.
Go Camping
If you love camping now is the time go! I’ll admit I’m not a huge camper, but I’m always game to try something new. Camping near Pictured Rocks is definitely on my summer bucket list next summer. Where is your favorite place to camp?
Try a New Recipe with Produce from the Farmers Market
Our Saturday morning tradition in the summer is a walk to Fulton Street Farmers Market. It’s my goal to try a new recipe with the summer produce from the market. This recipe for Chipotle Parmesan Sweet Corn from Barefoot Contessa has my name written all over it.
Make a Photo Book of Your Summer
I’ve really enjoyed making photo books from Artifact Uprising at the end of the year. With so much going on this summer I thought it would be fun to put together a summer 2019 book with some of our favorite photos. Have you done this before?
Take a Road Trip
Ready for a little weekend getaway? If a road trip is long overdue this summer here are some of my suggestions that are close to Grand Rapids – Ann Arbor, Chicago, Mackinac Island, or Fort Wayne.
What’s on your end of summer bucket list?
