Let’s be honest you can’t go wrong with a classic chocolate chip cookie that has a crispy edge and chewy center. Luckily I’ve searched high and low for the very best cookies throughout Grand Rapids and narrowed it down to my top five favorites (this wasn’t an easy decision).
1. Wealthy Street Bakery
I’m on island time each time I treat myself to an island cookie from Wealthy Street Bakery. With a combination of walnuts, coconut and chocolate chips this cookie is honestly pure perfection. You also can’t go wrong with their chocolate chip cookie, but trust me the island cookie is the absolute best.
2. Nantucket Baking Company
A typical Saturday morning involves a trip to Martha’s Vineyard for wine and Nantucket Baking Company for a baguette and cookie. The chocolate chip cookie has a crunchy edge, the ideal amount of chocolate chips and a soft center which is exactly how it should be. Nantucket also offers vegan cookies and a wide selection of yummy favors including peanut butter and oatmeal raisin.
3. Monica’s Gourmet Cookies
If you love cookie dough as much as I do you’ll love Monica’s Gourmet Cookies signature chocolate chip cookies. These cookies are little drops of heaven with a soft and chewy texture that tastes exactly like cookie dough. These cookies are the perfect size for a little snack and almost impossible to resist when I’m grocery shopping.
4. The Cakabakery
If you haven’t tried a cookie from The Cakabakery you don’t know what you’re missing. The chocolate chunk cookies are the absolute best with a slightly crispy edge and gooey center (and the perfect size to share). I routinely come here on Saturday afternoon to enjoy one of these amazing cookies because I can’t get enough.
5. Sweetie-licious Bakery
Sweetie-licious is known for their award winning pies, but they also have incredible cookies. Their chocolate chip cookie is baked to perfection with just the right amount of chocolate. This is the ideal spot to grab some dessert after enjoying dinner at The Downtown Market!
Sadly the best cookie in GR is no more. I still dream of Gaia cookies.
Hi Sara! I came across this post of yours from 2016 and was saddened to see that you had declared the top 5 best cookies in the Grand Rapids area without even having tasted a COOKIE CHICKS cookie! Granted, in terms of size and ability to access one, we were fairly exclusive back in August 2016, but know that we are now going full-bore with a dedicated cookie shop right on West River Drive in Comstock Park and have been making a name for ourselves in the Grand Rapids area (AND we DELIVER!)
