Who’s ready for some warm weather? I hear you! Spring break is right around the corner which means it’s time to start planning. If you’re still deciding where to go this spring, I’ve got you covered. I’m sharing five great destinations that are great to explore with your family, friends or significant other. Let’s go!
Vero Beach, Florida
If you haven’t been to Vero Beach, put this destination at the top of your list. I’ve been here multiple times with Cory because he lived here for six years. The vibe is very relaxed, the people are incredibly nice and the hotels on the island are awesome. Don’t miss an orange slushie from Countryside Citrus, a beer from Orchid Island Brewery and breakfast at Cravings. You can learn more about Vero Beach in this blog post.
Miami, Florida
I’ve been to Miami a couple of times and if you’re looking for great food, shopping and beaches this is it. You can also find incredible art in Wynwood and amazing museums like Viscaya Museum & Gardens. I would highly recommend dinner at Quinto La Huella or Cecconi’s Miami. Check out this blog post for more info on Miami, Florida.
Chicago, Illinois
You guys know my love for Chicago runs deep. If you’re looking for a destination close to Grand Rapids, you can’t go wrong with Chicago. Take the train or drive down with your family for an awesome spring break destination. You’ll love the shopping on Michigan Ave. (of course), but take some time to explore some of the neighborhoods as well. Lincoln Park has some great local shops and it’s easy to access by the L. If you bring kids check out the Shedd Aquarium, Art Institute of Chicago, or Museum of Science and Industry. Make a reservation at BOKA or my personal favorite Mon Ami Gabi for dinner. You can learn more about Chicago here.
Nashville, Tennessee
I visited friends in Nashville soon after college and had such a fun time in this city. You can drive or fly from Grand Rapids, and the city has so much to offer. Great food, amazing music and fun shopping. Take a stroll down Music Row and pop into a bar and you’re sure to find great music. I would also highly recommend Arrington Vineyards for some wine, and exploring the Opryland Hotel.
Charleston, South Carolina
Charleston is one of my favorite cities for the history, food and shopping. I visited here with my family when I was in middle school and loved exploring the historic sites. This city is very family friendly and offers so much. Don’t miss out on dinner at Husk, shopping at Skinny Dip, and walking along rainbow row to see the colorful houses in Charleston.
