Need some new date ideas for this summer? This summer has shaped up to be a little different with COVID-19 restrictions, but that doesn’t mean you can’t plan a fun date together. I’ve come up with some creative date ideas to try at home or a short drive away this summer. And, I really think both of you are going to LOVE these ideas. I hope you enjoy these summer date ideas!
Summer Date Ideas:
1. Pack a Picnic
Try a picnic in your backyard, at a local park or beach for your next date night. You could pick up a food from Martha’s Vineyard or PIK NIK before heading out to your picnic spot.
2. Try a Backyard Movie Night
Set up a screen and projector in your backyard for a fun movie night. Order pizza or just make some popcorn, and hang out together watching a movie outside. Check out this blog post for some tips on how we set our movie night.
3. Drive to the Beach
Summer and the beach are a perfect combination. Luckily, we live really close to some amazing beaches like Holland, Grand Haven or Muskegon. Take a little drive and enjoy some swimming in Lake Michigan.
4. DIY Ice Cream Sundaes
If you both have a sweet tooth try a DIY ice cream sundae night. You could try making your own ice cream or purchase your favorite type of ice cream from the store. Buy all the fun toppings like hot fudge, caramel, sprinkles and candy pieces to make a fun ice cream sundae together.
5. Wine Tasting at Home
How about some wine tasting at home? If you both love wine pick a few new types of wine that you’ve always wanted to try. You can taste and learn about new wines together while enjoying a charcuterie plate from Say Cheese GR.
6. Drive-In Movie
If you can’t set up a backyard movie, try going to a drive-in movie together. Check out the movies playing at Getty Drive-In located in Muskegon.
7. Make a New Recipe Together
Now is the perfect time to try a new recipe! Do a little research together and make a shopping list of ingredients you’ll need for the recipes. If you need some ideas this shrimp and lemon risotto or cacio e pepe are really good.
8. Get Some Exercise
Get outside and enjoy the warm weather with a hike, walk or run. Head to a park or just explore your neighborhood on a brisk walk. Cory and I also love doing yoga together!
9. Pick Blueberries
Blueberry season has arrived in West Michigan. Pick some blueberries together at Versluis Orchards for a fun afternoon outside. I would highly suggest making this blueberry coffee cake with some of your blueberries.
10. Make S’mores in the Backyard
If you can have a bonfire in your backyard, try some new s’mores combinations with this s’mores board. Play some music, and enjoy roasting marshmallows and making s’mores.
11. Have a Water Balloon Fight
Order some water balloons and set up a water balloon fight in your backyard. We had a water ballon fight on 4th of July, and had so much fun!
12. Try a Game Night
Cory and I love playing rummy together after we’re done working. Order some new board games or just get a deck of cards for a fun game night.
13. Support Local
Now that restaurants are open in Michigan you could plan a date night at one of your favorite spots. Or if you feel more comfortable staying in, order take out from a local restaurant.
14. Put Your Phones Away
Put your phones away for your next date night. It’s so easy to get distracted with your phone next to you if you’re watching TV or a movie together. Just put your phone away for a few hours and limit distractions.
15. Start a Project
Cory and I have started a dozen different house projects since we’ve been home. Try planning a project you can do together around the house like painting, changing out lights, or adding some photos to your home.
16. Take a Day Trip
If you’re looking to take a day trip together here are some great ideas. Enjoy a little time away with these day trips from Grand Rapids.
17. DIY Pizza Night
Cory and I love doing pizza on Sunday nights. You can buy pizza dough from a local pizza shop or try making your own! Get all of your favorite toppings and create your own pizza together.
18. Have a Fancy Dinner Together
I can’t remember the last time I dressed up for something, so why not dress up for dinner? Plan a romantic dinner outside or inside and dress up in our favorite dress or suit. Light some candles and enjoy a great dinner together.
